How to Play FLORIDA LOTTO™ with XTRA® FLORIDA LOTTO™ With XTRA® gives FLORIDA LOTTO players "multiple" reasons to play! Similar to POWERBALL® with Power Play®, FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA offers players the opportunity to multiply their non-jackpot cash winnings by two, three, four or five times for just $1 more per play. New FLORIDA LOTTO playslips are now available at authorized Florida Lottery retailers statewide.

Each playslip contains 10 panels (A-J), allowing you to play up to 10 plays per drawing (one play per panel). In each panel:

1. Select six numbers from 1 through 53, or mark the QP (Quick Pick) box and let the terminal randomly pick some or all of your numbers.

2. To multiply your winnings on non-jackpot cash prizes, select the XTRA box. XTRA costs $1 more per play. FLORIDA LOTTO tickets will display “XTRA YES” if you add XTRA to your LOTTO purchase. Please Note: The XTRA box applies to all panels, Advance Plays and Quick Picks played on the playslip.

3. To play the same numbers for more than one draw, simply tell the retailer how many advance draws you wish to play or select the number of draws you want to play in the Advance Play section of your playslip. For more information on Advance Play, please click here.

4. Give your completed playslip and payment to the retailer. You will receive a ticket printed with your numbers, draw date(s) and the value of each panel played. Please check your ticket before you leave the store. You are responsible for the accuracy of your ticket.

5. Check the official drawing results to see if you're a winner! Draw results are available on this Web site, at authorized Florida Lottery retailers and by calling (850) 921-PLAY (7529).To watch the drawings, click here.

Drawings are held Wednesday and Saturday nights at 11:15 p.m., Eastern Time. Tickets may be purchased until 10:40 p.m., Eastern Time, on the night of the draw. Tickets purchased after 10:40 p.m. will be for the next draw.

If you claim a prize on a winning Advance Play ticket before all of the draws on the ticket have occurred, you will be issued a continuation ticket for the remaining draws with the same play numbers as the original ticket.

NOTE: The Florida Lottery will continue to honor any jackpot-winning LOTTO PLUS ticket purchased prior to October 11, including Advanced Play tickets. Players who redeem an Advanced Play LOTTO PLUS ticket, will receive a continuation LOTTO PLUS ticket for the remaining draws.

Please remember: All prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the applicable draw date.

XTRA XTRA is a special feature that allows players to multiply their non-jackpot cash prizes by two, three, four or five times the original prize amount! A player must choose the XTRA option on his/her FLORIDA LOTTO playslip or tell the retailer that he/she wishes to purchase a FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA ticket. FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA tickets cost an additional $1 per play.

For a limited time, FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA players who match three of six winning numbers will win a minimum of $25, the 3-of-6 prize multiplied by five, regardless of the multiplier selected for that drawing.

Prizes shown are estimated prize amounts. All cash prizes are pari-mutuel. The XTRA number, from 2 to 5, will be drawn at random just before the FLORIDA LOTTO drawing to determine how much the non-jackpot cash prizes will be increased for that draw.

* For a limited time, the XTRA 3-of-6 prize will pay a minimum of $25 (5 times the FLORIDA LOTTO base prize.)

** For FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA players, the odds of matching 2 of 6 numbers are 1 in 8.58. The XTRA 2-of-6 prize is a free FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA Quick Pick ticket for the next available draw.

*** The overall game odds for FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA are 1 in 7.61.

How to Win The Florida Lottery will hold official FLORIDA LOTTO™ drawings where six out of 53 numbers will be drawn at random. If your six numbers match the six winning numbers drawn in the official drawing for the date played, you win a FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot. Match three, four or five of the winning numbers to win other cash prizes.

The XTRA multiplier number is selected at random, from 2 through 5, before each drawing. If a FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA player matches three, four or five winning numbers, he/she wins an amount equal to the original prize amount multiplied by the multiplier that was drawn before the drawing. If the player matches just two winning numbers, he/she wins a free FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA ticket for the next available draw.

Players may choose to receive their portion of the FLORIDA LOTTO jackpots in a one-time Cash Option payment or in 30 annual payments. The Cash Option payment is the amount required on the day of the drawing (or if the drawing is held on a Saturday or holiday, the business day prior to the drawing) to fund the applicable jackpot prize paid over 30 years, less applicable taxes. One of the most effective ways to connect with our players is responding to the questions and comments that they send us. Should you wish to contact the agency by email, please feel free to click on "Contact Us ". Listening to customers is one of the most important things we can do to make the Florida Lottery one of the best lotteries in the world.

In 1986, Florida voters authorized a lottery through a constitutional amendment, enacted by a two-to-one margin that would use its proceeds to enhance public education in Florida. Governor Bob Martinez and the Florida Legislature established the Florida Lottery with the mission of maximizing revenues for education to allow the people of Florida to benefit from significant additional monies while providing the best lottery games available. Over the 23-year history of the Florida Lottery, both goals have been accomplished.

Driven by the legislative mandate for tickets to go on sale by January 18, 1988, the Lottery's start-up was a year of dynamic activity. Rebecca Paul was hired as the Lottery's first permanent Secretary and on January 12, 1988, the Florida Lottery began sales of its very first game – six days ahead of schedule.

A $1 Scratch-Off, the Lottery's first game, MILLIONAIRE, exceeded $95 million in sales – setting a lottery industry record. MILLIONAIRE was so successful that in just 17 days the Lottery was able to repay the original startup money borrowed from the state's General Revenue Fund of $15.5 million plus interest.

Lottery fever swept across the state, and the players enthusiastically embraced the new games, resulting in many ongoing favorites. The first On-line games, FLORIDA LOTTO™ and CASH 3™, were introduced with a dual launch on April 29, 1988. By August 31, 1988, the Florida Lottery had emerged as an industry leader when FLORIDA LOTTO produced an estimated $52 million jackpot, a new national and world record for its time. As the Florida Lottery continued to respond to its growing player base, FANTASY 5® was launched as a bi-weekly game in April 1989 and PLAY 4™ was added to the daily games in July 1991. Finally, MEGA MONEY™ was introduced in 1998. In July 2008, the Lottery announced that it would join the Multi-state Lottery Association (MUSL) and launch POWERBALL® in early January 2009. In October 2010, the instant-win game LUCKY LINES™ launched, rounding out the Lottery's seven On-line games currently offered.

The Lottery's portfolio of Scratch-Off games has also grown through the years to offer players a myriad of themes with a variety of instant prizes. Millions of Scratch-Off players have collected prizes ranging from free tickets, merchandise, or cash prizes up to $100,000-a-year for life. Players now have numerous entertainment options offering something to intrigue every player. The Lottery's Scratch-Off games include choices of tickets that now range from $1 to $20. At more than 13,000 retailers across Florida, players can continually choose from a wide assortment of up to 50 different Scratch-Off games at any one time. Florida Lottery games have delivered what had been promised to players... "more and bigger prizes."

As the Florida Lottery has grown into an industry leader, it remains a dependable contributor to education in Florida. More than a $1 billion in each of the past eight fiscal years has benefited Florida students and schools statewide, representing approximately six percent of the state's total education budget. While the Lottery was never intended to fully fund Florida's education system, Lottery contributions are far-reaching and crucial to ensuring the future success of students in Florida. Pre-kindergarten projects have directly affected the youngest Florida citizens, while thousands of K-12 students reap the benefits of Lottery dollars every school day. Thousands of bright minds have followed the beacon offered by Florida's Bright Futures Scholarship Program and other student financial aid to pursue opportunities in higher education at state universities and community colleges. These institutions of higher learning themselves have benefited from more than $5.9 billion that help keep them running and affordable to Florida students.

Additionally, Lottery dollars have funded School Recognition and Merit Programs for improved schools, and have even helped build and renovate nearly 800 schools through the Classrooms First and Classrooms for Kids programs. In total, Florida's schools and students have received more than $22 billion in Lottery profits, including more than 1.5 million Bright Futures scholarships that are funded by the Florida Lottery.

Through the years, the Lottery has become part of the very fabric of Florida, truly affecting the lives of all Floridians and providing residents with a reason to believe their dreams can come true as millions regularly enjoy "water-cooler dreaming" with family and friends about what they would do if they won the big jackpot. Today, millions continue to show their support by purchasing nearly $4 billion in Lottery products per year.

Whether they are winners who have collected million-dollar Lottery prizes, or one of the many who are able to follow their dreams by getting a better education with the help of Lottery dollars, all Florida residents enjoy and benefit from the Florida Lottery. With the patronage of its players, the dedication of its retailers and employees, and a state-of-the-art gaming system, the Florida Lottery will continue to ensure that players are provided with the best games in the industry and that profits continue to generate even greater contributions to education in the state. The best years are yet to come!

Mission Statement: The Florida Lottery was created to allow the people of the state to benefit from significant additional moneys for education while playing the best lottery games available. The mission of the Florida Lottery is to maximize revenues in a manner consistent with the dignity of the state and the welfare of its citizens.

Welcome to the Florida Lottery's Security web page. This area of the Florida Lottery's website will provide you with information about our secured daily Lottery Drawings ; inform citizens how to avoid lottery Scams and advise visitors to the site when an Amber Alert is in effect. Thanks for visiting.

Lottery Drawings The Florida Lottery drawings are conducted under strict security guidelines and procedures. A Lottery draw manager and an auditor from an independent auditing firm attend and participate in every drawing. These two individuals report to the draw studio at least 90 minutes prior to the actual drawing. The Lottery draw manager is employed by the Florida Lottery as a special agent and is a certified law enforcement officer. The draw manager and auditor complete a detailed checklist that thoroughly scrutinizes all aspects of each draw.

Lottery Scams Every day, criminals find new ways to scam victims out of their savings. Many Floridians have fallen prey to con artists claiming to be Florida Lottery winners who are unable to collect their jackpots. The con artists offer to “sell” the winning ticket to the victim, or ask their victim to collect the money for them. When the victim agrees, they are asked for money or other valuables as a “deposit.” Once the con artists have the victim’s money, they disappear.

The Florida Lottery offers these helpful tips to avoid being scammed:

•NEVER redeem a Florida Lottery ticket for someone you don't know. •NEVER give your credit card numbers over the phone to anyone promising Florida Lottery cash prizes or memberships. •NEVER accept a collect phone call from someone claiming to be a Florida Lottery official. •NEVER respond to a letter or phone call from someone who offers you a guarantee of winning a prize. The Florida Lottery does not guarantee you a prize, only a chance of winning if you buy a legal ticket. •ONLY participate in a "lottery pool" with people you trust. If you have questions about "lottery clubs", please call the Florida Lottery Division of Security at (850) 487-7730. •ONLY buy Florida Lottery tickets from authorized retailers. Call your local Florida Lottery District Office for the location of a retailer near you. With the technology available today, cross-border lottery scams are becoming more common than ever. To find out more about the schemes scammers use to steal large amounts of money and how you can avoid being a victim, please visit the Cross Border Fraud web site.

Amber Alerts

The State of Florida has established the Florida Amber Plan to broadcast critical information regarding missing or abducted children. In 2002, the Florida Lottery joined as a partner in the Florida Amber Alert System in an effort to assist law enforcement agencies in child abduction cases. Time is of the essence in disseminating critical information regarding a missing or abducted child. The Florida Lottery, Division of Security, acts in a liaison capacity between the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), other Divisions within the Lottery and all Lottery Retailers

Throughout the year, the Florida Lottery participates in local events and radio remotes across the state, providing community outreach and support. Taking part in these events helps the Lottery to increase public awareness of the Lottery's commitment to education. The following is a listing of events where the Florida Lottery is participating.
